We spent a very nice New Year's Eve watching some football and going to PF Chang's for dinner. We even watched the Sex and the City movie and enjoyed catching up on the girl's lives over the last few years. We actually made it to midnight and rang in the New Year with Dick Clark. Isaac said if it hadn't been for the SATC movie, I probably would have been fast asleep. He's probably right!
So 2009 seems right to start a blog of the goings-on in our family, and as a means for me to write some of my thoughts down. I am definitely a verbal processor (spoken or written), so I think this will be helpful for me. When I was younger, I wrote all the time. I have volumes of journals packed away in a box (no peaking!) But then the busyness of life took over, and I stopped writing as much as I used to. Maybe this will help me break out of that lapse.
I am grateful for a New Year and the many, many blessings we have: one another, jobs, a safe and comfortable place to live, a wonderful church family that we're getting to know day by day, and our health. We decided to cut way back on Christmas gifts this year and adopted several angels from the YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club. It was one of the most meaningful things we did all year. We keep wondering how the children are enjoying their outfits and scooters and bikes. But God knows, and we'll trust him to watch over these precious children.
Stay tuned for more details on what's going on in our lives. We feel so very blessed to have such a wonderful cloud of witnesses around us (Hebrews 12:1) and we love you all very much. Happy New Year. May this one be full of hopes, dreams fulfilled, and opportunities to grow closer to one another and to God.
