I left for Greenville on April 26th to work on the "go live" of my big project. Things went pretty well with the exception of the physical scanner we use to get work into the software system (luckily email and fax can get work in there too!). After spending about 20 hours on conference calls and web exs with the vendor, I finally got them to admit that it was their issue. And they hope to have a fix by Monday (not holding my breath). So, I'm staying in Greenville this week so I can go back to work there on Monday.
Isaac drove down late night last. It wasn't till about 6:30 that I made the decision that I need to come back Monday... and driving 10 hours (5 hours each way) for 36 hours at home didn't seem great to me. But, I'm really glad Isaac drove down. He's studying for his GMAT now while I catch up on a week's worth of mail and update my blog. : )
There was a little voice in the back of my head that said, "Andrea, don't worry about it. Just go back home." But I just couldn't leave the business unit in a lurch. They worked so hard last week to adjust to processing their work on a image on a computer screen vs. having the actual piece of paper in front of them (it's harder than you think--especially when your "claim" is 50 pages long!). So, my work ethic won out, and I'm going back Monday.
My hope is to get them squared away by Wednesday. But we'll see. Isaac has his GMAT exam on Wednesday, so we'll both be working hard this week.
Fortunately... FRANCE is 18 days away! It will be such a welcome adventure after spending this year working really hard with the Run for the Roses 5k and work at BB&T. We are spending 4 days in Paris and 3 days in Nice. Can't wait to stroll the Champs d'Elysee and see the Mediterrean sea in Nice. We're hoping that everything settles down with the swine flu so we can make the trip. Some minister in Europe recommended no trips to the US and Mexico, so I'm hoping they don't freak out and close their boarders to US and Mexican citizens. We'll see.
Isaac has been such an awesome support to me. I was surprised by an arrangement of gerbera daisies in my hotel room when I returned on Wednesday. They are so beautiful and the sentiment and effort it took to make that happen means so much to me. God gave me an amazing husband.
Hope you all are well. Feeling really grateful for my friends and family this week. Love you all!
